Cave protection zones – Domica Cave

Located on the south-western edge of the Silická Plateau in the Slovak Karst National Park, close to the border with Hungary. Domica Cave is connected with the Čertova diera Cave – and together they have a length of 5,358 m. They form a single genetic unit with the Baradla Cave in Hungary that is 25 km long, and one fourth of which is on the Slovak territory.

Generally binding regulation to declare the protection zone of the national nature monument:

GENERALLY BINDING REGULATION

The Regional Office for the Environment in Košice
no. 10/2005 of September 5, 2005,
which declares the protection zone of the
Domica Cave national nature monument

The Regional Office for the Environment in Košice according to the § 24 sections 8 and 21 of the act no. 543/2002 of the Legal Codes on nature and landscape protection (further on only „act“) and § 7 section 2 of the act no. 525/2003 of the Legal Codes on state administration of the environment and on change and amendments of some acts enacts:

§ 1
Subject of protection of the national nature monument Domica Cave
  1. The protection zone of the national nature monument Domica Cave (further on only „protection zone of the national nature monument“) is declared.
  2. The subject of protection in the protection zone of the national nature monument are the sensitive cave geosystems.
  3. The conditions for protection are in force on the territory of protection zone of the national nature monument according to § 24 sections 9 and 10 of the act.
§ 2
Demarcation of borders of the national nature monument protection zone
  1. The national nature monument protection zone is located in Rožňava district, in the cadastral territory Dlhá Ves on plots no. 1137/1, 1137/2, 1137/3, 1137/4, 1145, 1146, 1147/1, 1147/2, 1147/3, 1148/1, 1148/2, 1149 part, 1154/10, 1154/2, 1154/3, 1154/4, 1154/7, 1154/8, 1154/9, 1158/1 part, 1159/2, 1159/3, 1159/4, 1160, 1163/1 part, 1926, 1927/6 part, 1930, 1931 and in the cadastral territory Kečovo on plots no. 438 part, 440/1, 441, 442, 443, 444, 445, 446, 447, 448/1 part, 449/1, 449/2, 452, 453, 454/1, 455, 456, 457, 458, 459, 460, 461, 462, 463, 464/1, 472, 473, 474, 475, 476, 477, 478, 479, 480, 481, 482, 483, 484, 485, 486/1, 486/2, 486/3, 487, 488, 489, 490, 491, 492, 493, 494, 495/1, 495/2, 496, 497, 498, 499, 499/0/3, 500, 501, 503/1 part, 504, 505, 506, 507 part, 511, 512, 513, 514 part, 515, 516, 517, 518/1, 518/2, 519, 520, 521, 522, 523, 550/1, 551, 552, 553, 554, 555, 557, 578 part and 579 according to the cadastral map M 1: 5 000 with state to 2003.
  2. The national nature monument protection zone covers the area of 616,6892 ha.
  3. The national nature monument protection zone is marked in the field according to the cadastral map in scale M 1 : 5000 with state to 2003 and forest stand map M 1 : 10 000, which is a part of the forest management plan on the forest management unit Stárňa with state to January 1, 1997.
§ 3
Marking and indication of the national nature monument protection zone
  1. The borders of the national nature monument protection zone will be marked in the land registry. The maps with plotted borders of the national nature monument protection zone are together with this regulation and other documentation stored and available for inspection in the state list of individually protected parts of nature and landscape at the Regional Office for the Environment in Košice, at the Slovak Caves Administration in Liptovský Mikuláš, at the Peripheral Office for the Environment in Rožňava and at the Municipal Office in Dlhá Ves and Kečovo.
  2. Indication of the national nature monument protection zone in the field will be provided by the Slovak Caves Administration within six months from the date of effectiveness of this regulation.
§ 4
Effectiveness

This regulation is effective from October 1, 2005.
